L PAVILION. HOUSING ENLARGEMENT
Camos, Nigrán (2000)
In this project, despite the small size of the intervention, we enter into problems of a general nature, such as how to relate to an existing construction. We work with the same materials with which it was built but we use them differently.
The new pavilion consists simply of a concrete slab supported by stone pillars, in which we close some intercollumnations with glass and stone. The mass of the concrete slab and its lack of contact with the walls give it a floating character, the height of the pavilion, which is given by the need to connect structurally with the floor of the study and the movements of the ground floor, results be the proper one, the joints that are formed in the relationship between the two buildings provide bands of light to the darker areas. The abstract nature of the initial approach is made more complex and alive by its adaptation to concrete reality.
