THREE INTERLINED HOUSES
Eirado de Alvar Páez, Pontevedra (2005)
Instead of the most immediate solution, three semi-detached houses, 1/1/1, three strips, with short round trips, always the same view and the same sun or lack of sun throughout the house, we seek a solution in spatial terms; starting from the total volume, we excavate three houses in spiral, different from each other, 1/2/3, that form a spatial mesh which does not repeat any. In this way, we can achieve a much wider range of interior movements, the greater variety of views and orientations for each dwelling (in fact, all the views and orientations for each dwelling) therefore, the greater balance between them. The building as a whole takes the form of a stone with perforations; their joints give an idea of the interior division and the wall is treated differently in each dwelling, but a perception of material unity and scale is maintained with the surrounding constructions
