INSTITUTIONAL AND R & D BUILDING OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIGO IN CASCO VELLO
We start from the definition of INFRASTRUCTURE as the “set of technical means, services and facilities necessary for the development of an activity or for a place to be used”, and we understand that the fundamental purpose of the project is to provide the city in Praza do Berbés and Casco Vello with a series of free platforms that allow the development of knowledge and institutional relations under the protection of the University of Vigo.
For this we propose the following operations:
- FLEXIBLE STRUCTURE based on concrete slabs that save the entire light of numbers 13 and 15 of Praza do Berbés, and a core of communications and services concentrated on the position in which it interferes least in the development of activities within each platform.
- CENTRAL ENTRY OF LIGHT inside the building, necessary given the existence of a single well-lit facade.
Illumination by means of the common elements that are the east and west courtyards is used, but it is not considered that the building can depend only on these elements since we can not control its actual execution nor its good maintenance.
- MOBILE PARTITION SYSTEMS or easily removable and storage spaces distributed by all plants, as a complement to point A, allowing maximum variation and intensity of use in a matter of minutes.
- Use of INTERSTICAL SPACES, which are given by the irregular geometry of the plot, as areas of isolation, service, storage and passage of facilities, allowing the release of the areas of stay and take advantage of them without restriction.
